i spent most of the day updating out wedding website. we had fun trying to come up with the “Dave recommends…” and “Kerri recommends…” sections for all of our out of town guests. the site turned out to be a lot of work, but i like the end result. i spent a few hours working on the flash countdown clock at the bottom of the page with the help of this tutorial. we added some pictures to my flickr account which now feeds the top of the site. in addition to the recommendations, i started putting up some of the other content up, too. with the work i did on kettlepot this weekend and the daveandkerri.com site, i feel like i actually accomplished something, which is great. i need to spend a little time tomorrow doing work-related stuff before we go celebrate new years eve with some friends. new years day should be the museum and then a guitar lesson before returning to work on wednesday. time flies and all that.

a whole new kettlepot…

i finally got off my arse and redesigned kettlepot which, as it turns out, is a collection of websites that each have a purpose but all share a common look and feel.

www.kettlepot.com: as it was before, kettlepot.com is my photography website that uses pixelpost.

blog.kettlepot.com: same as before…wordpress blog, cleaned up and using the same format as the other sites. i added some additional information, such as books i am currently reading and some random photos from my flickr account (more on that below).

moblog.kettlepot.com: a new site for a project that i want to try, along with thousands of other people. moblog stands for mobile blog, and it will host pictures i take with my camera phone and send in to flickr. i want to try to send in at least one picture a day, which i am hoping should be pretty easy to do. it’s all tied in and automatic now, so all i have to do is send in the picture to flickr and a few minutes later it will show up on my moblog.

the first phase of all of this was to simply get my blog and photography sites looking the same, and in a clean format. it was fun creating templates for pixelpost and wordpress, and i hope visitors feel like all the sites flow nicely and appear to be one site.

i deleted everything from my flickr account and started putting back up pictures in a logical order. i’m also using my flickr account to feed the pictures for kerri’s site, so it’s really all coming together nicely.

next i have to put up some of the previous pictures i had on kettlepot, and maybe bring over some of my previous blog posts. i also need to get working on www.daveandkerri.com and at least one more of my sites.

i’m hoping that getting this stuff done will get me motivated to get back in to everything. with the growing responsibilities at work and the wedding planning, i definitely need an outlet. hopefully the new kettlepot will be just that.
